John 8:7 and 9a says, “So when they continued asking him, he raised himself up and said to them, ‘He who is without sin among you , let him throw a stone at her first.’ Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last.” The Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery (v. 3) to Jesus to test him (v. 6). Interesting they said she was “caught in the very act” (v. 4). Jesus knew this was trumped up and said only the sinless should stone her. They left one by one: oldest first, youngest last. Many years temper and replace rabid idealism and the energy of youth with seasoned wisdom gained from life experience…if we’re paying attention. As an old(er) man, I know this to be true. Let’s gain wisdom by numbering our days (Ps. 90:12) every day.
